Bunyolí: A Historic Gem in the Heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. For generations, this invaluable gem known as Bunyolí has been lovingly preserved and passed down as a treasured family legacy. This ancestral estate spans more than 250 hectares, adorned with century-old trees and offering panoramic views of unspoiled, majestic nature.
Located just minutes from the charming village of Establiments, Bunyolí lies on the edge of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. This privileged enclave is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and rich agricultural heritage, with estates traditionally dedicated to the production of olive oil, wine, and other local goods. The history of the possessió dates back to 1232, with the founding of the Barony of Bunyolí. For centuries, its fertile lands provided wealth and sustenance through the cultivation of carob, orange trees, vineyards, and olive groves, from which oil was produced in its very own tafona (traditional oil press). Livestock farming, especially sheep, was also a key activity.
The journey to the main house is an experience in itself: a path lined with majestic calypsos soaring up to 36 meters high leads to the clastra, where the stately mansion stands surrounded by the tafona, the estate manager’s house, and sweeping views over much of the land.
The estate boasts approximately 7,500 m² of built area, with the main mansion, dating from 1698, as its centerpiece. Constructed from stone and marés (a traditional Mallorcan sandstone), the residence is spread across four floors and encompasses 2,838 m². Inside, you'll find spacious living rooms, traditional kitchens, bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and expansive terraces and balconies offering privileged views of the Mallorcan countryside, the mountains, the city of Palma, and on clear days, even the sea. One of the estate’s most emblematic features is its beautiful private chapel, set within a lush garden. This chapel served the surrounding communities for centuries and was, until recently, still hosting family events and celebrations. Today, with the vision of restoring Bunyolí to its former glory, the door is open to those who wish to be part of its new chapter—a unique opportunity to preserve its historical soul while shaping its future with creativity and care. The great Mallorcan possessions, like Bunyolí, are far more than properties; they are living testaments to the island’s history and cultural identity. Their value extends beyond architecture or natural beauty—they embody a traditional way of life, in harmony with the land, that has endured for centuries and continues to inspire the present.
